　　discovery是指发现；发觉的意思。

　　例如：

　　a new discovery in medical science

　　医学科学的新发现

　　His discoveries included 300 uses for peanuts and 200 uses for sweet potatoes.

　　他的发现包括花生的三百种用途和红薯的二百种用途。

　　The discovery of oil on their land made the people rapidly rich.

　　他们土地上发现了石油使这里的人们家很快致富了。

　　这里我们来看一下以下几个词：

　　discover, reveal, disclose在一起比较一般的含义是“揭示出来”。

　　discover是通用词，在表示“发现”的时候，它的内涵是被探索或被揭示物老早就客观存在着

　　Despite her great age,she was very graceful indeed, but so far ,the archaeologists have been unable to discover her identity.

　　尽管她年代离开现在已经很久远了，但是她的确很有风姿，然而至今考古学家尚不能探索出她是那尊女神。
